HE LOST $150 MILLION – HOW WAS HE NOT FIRED and sent into exile from Illinois politics????  But instead he’s running for the senate and practically has a chance no less????  Geesus the people in this state are brain-dead sometimes (no offense to those who are actually brain-dead!).

I read this latest excerpt on the Metra last night about John “Silky Pony” Edwards and his wife Elizabeth (via NYMag). Man, are these political marriages a bunch of shams. And for what – some lavish parties and access to inner circles. Human nature is so self-centered. Anybody tells you differently, they’re just in denial. Here’s one of my favorite parts where a typical ego-maniac politician blames everyone but himself for his own indiscretions:

A few days later, in October, Brumberger flew from New York to Chicago to join Edwards for a trip to China. “Hey, I need to talk to you,” Edwards said abruptly when they met in the terminal at O’Hare. They walked together to the airline’s premium lounge, where Edwards had reserved a private meeting room for their conversation. “Sit,” Edwards said and then tore into Brumberger.

Stuff from the road is getting back to people, and it’s obviously you who’s doing it, Edwards said angrily. You didn’t recognize who you work for. You don’t work for Nick and Peter. You work for me. I trusted you like a son, but you broke my trust. I can’t have you around me anymore. You’re not coming to China, and you’re never working for me again.

Brumberger’s heart sank. “I’m sorry you feel that way,” he said. “I always thought my goal in all of this was to do everything I could to help you become the next president of the United States.”

“Why didn’t you come to me?” Edwards asked.

“I did come to you! I came to you in Ohio. I called you after Labor Day! I tried!”

“No,” Edwards said. “Why didn’t you come to me like a fucking man and tell me to stop fucking her?”

They were both yelling now at the top of their lungs, red-faced and teary-eyed. (”You’re a 27-year-old kid, and I’m a grown man!” Edwards railed. “Don’t you think I’ve thought about this?”) But when Edwards finally regained his composure, he seemed to recognize the implications of sacking Brumberger. Let’s talk about all this when I get back, he said.

But Brumberger had had enough. Crushed and mortified, he was finished with Edwards.

Brumberger’s firing sent shock waves through the campaign. Baldick, Rubey, and longtime communications adviser David Ginsberg followed him out the door that autumn of 2006. All three gave Edwards pretexts for quitting, but for them there was no escaping the conclusion that the candidate was diddling Hunter and that he was hell-bent on resisting the efforts of the people closest to him to save him from himself.

And to think that Silky Pony could have been president. (Shudders)

Also, I just received a link to another excerpt showing how Game Change doesn’t do Hillary Clinton any favors either.

Exit question: Remember when Obama said on the campaign trail how people would say not to vote for him because he has a funny name, he’s black, and that his face wouldn’t look like the guys on the dollar bill, etc.? He was trying to insinuate that Republicans or those not voting for him were only racially-motivated in not voting for him. Too bad it looks like he was talking mainly about people within his own party. But anyone who’s a former liberal knows that the most racially-insensitive people you’ll meet are liberals themselves.  Game Change is a book really shedding the sunshine on things most of us already know.

In a November conversation caught on an FBI wiretap, Roland Burris promised Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s brother that he’d write the governor a campaign check by mid-December, Burris’ lawyer said today.  That was about a month before Rod Blagojevich appointed Burris to the U.S. Senate.

Honestly, I’m all for this. Let’s really expose how crooked The Chicago Way is. Maybe if a big spotlight is put on this city the cockroaches knows as our politicians will scatter away. One can only hope (pun intended with the pic to the left).

So long, Mrs. Arlen Specter. I hardly needed to know you in my short time as a Republican to get on the bandwagon to kick yo’ ass to the curb.

Whenever there is a downturn in business, companies will do what I like to call getting rid of the dead weight.

So I’d like for neo-RINOs like Meghan McCain to understand this concept before they go running their mouffffff on how the GOP should use Specter’s turncoating ways as a tool for reflection on what the GOP has done wrong.  (via HotAir)

Ummm, the GOP is just fine. We just need to trim off those unreliable members who are willing to sell their principles and votes to the highest bidder. I’m sorry, Specter’s I’ll-sell-my-porkulus-vote-for-a-WH-SuperBowl-ticket shrewd move was it for me. Maybe instead of worrying about how to retain corrupt politicians onto the GOP ticket, we should find ways to do more to streamline the party’s members to include only those who know how to read the bills they vote on! Just a thought.

So, this week emails are uncovered by Judicial Watch from Pelosi and her staff as Princess Pelotox acts like one of those Sweet Sixteen brats on MTV when making numerous, outrageous requests to use military planes for her personal use. I guess Princess Pelotox forgot about hypocritical past of hers while she was going on and on, like an angry villager with a pitchfork, about corporate executives using private planes. Hey, Princess! You’re not entitled to waste our taxpayer money for private planes either. Do what the rest of us do and fly coach. But I guess that isn’t acceptable for her. From the email when a particular military plane wasn’t available at her beckon call one weekend:

The documents also detail correspondence from intermediaries for Speaker Pelosi issuing demands for certain aircraft and expressing outrage when requested military planes were not available. “It is my understanding there are no G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable…The speaker will want to know where the planes are…” wrote Kay King, Director of the House Office of Interparliamentary Affairs. In a separate email, when told a certain type of aircraft would not be available, King writes, “This is not good news, and we will have some very disappointed folks, as well as a very upset [s]peaker.”

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Poor thing! She didn’t get her private plane. Whaaaaaaaaaaaa! Shhhh, now there you little Spendocrat, it’ll be all right….Shhhhh.

In case you didn’t know Charlie Rangel, Democrat House Rep from “oh big surprise” New York is a big ole a tax evader extraordinaire and an EVEN bigger treat – Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee. Yes, folks a House Rep under investigation for tax fraud and evasion heads up our tax legislation committee in Congress. Say it with me now – loud and proud for the boys in the back! – “MOST ETHICAL CONGRESS EVAAAAAAAAAAA!”

Umm, riddle me this Penguin from Harlem – who do you think is paying your freakin’ salary? Here’s a clue: TAXPAYER FUNDS you idiot!  He’s not elected into office so that he can drive around in a fancy, smancy Cadillac and poof up his own pockets. Where’s MYYYYY Rangel Rule with a free Cadillac???

This after years of his participation in the Countrywide “Friends of Angelo” program where Dodd received an astonishing low mortgage rates of 4.5% for a 10 year loan and 4.25% for a 5 year loan. You read that right, folks - 4.5% and 4.25% with ZERO points down. Not a student loan, but home mortgages. I mean it muuuuuuuuust have just a “coincidence” that the man who was serving on the Banking Committee didn’t know at the time what the average rates were, even though he’s in a position to have his finger on the pulse of what supports the entire banking industry. Nah, that was just a simple oversight. Also, ignore the fact that daily newspapers and broadcast news report on interest and mortgage rates nearly every day.  He clearly couldn’t help missing that.   The average American who reads their newspaper on a daily basis could know if they were getting a sweetheart deal on their home loan, but not Dodd – it’s not his fault! Poor guy, let me rub my thumb and index finger together to play the world’s smallest violin.

Anyboohoo, Dodd is now announcing he is releasing his recordseven though they won’t be made public and only a select group of reports can view a partial portion of the overall records. After nearly a year of promising to do so he presents this as if a). he’s doing it as a grand voluntary gesture and b). this has not been pressured on him to do so all these months. I think Dodd knows exactly what he’s doing. Do not be fooled – this man knew exactly what rate he was getting; that is was significantly lower than what he would qualify on his own w/o the Angelo VIP treatment; and that everyone knows he got his hand caught in the cookie jar. But Dodd continually is playing the deer-in-the-headlights look. I think someone is advising him, badly, that if you play dumb long enough either enough people will buy it or they’ll just grow tired and forget about it.

But nobody truly forgets. Not in this day of Google and YouTube. People will remember Dodd for the sneak that he is. Dodd should resign from the Banking Committee and admit fault – that would go a lot further in a court of public opinion than his current course of action. I personally think he should resign as a Senator and be put on trial as Ted Stevens was but that probably won’t happen since he’s got friends in high (and low) places.  Ed Morrissey wrote a column in the New York Post about Dodd’s record evasion. It’s a great article, so check it out.

The influence-peddling took place when Dodd got the special deal from Countrywide – and the shenanigans that Dodd & Co. allowed Countrywide and other irresponsible subprime lenders to engage in have already burned down the US economy.

Dodd promised last summer that he’d release all of his mortgage documentation to the public. He’s now in his seventh month of failing to deliver. This week, Dodd released some of the papers – but only to a select group of reporters, who weren’t allowed to make copies.

The long wait suggests that Dodd has something to hide. The incomplete “disclosure” and the refinancing, meanwhile, look more like an attempt to bury evidence than a sudden commitment to clean government.
