I read this latest excerpt on the Metra last night about John “Silky Pony” Edwards and his wife Elizabeth (via NYMag). Man, are these political marriages a bunch of shams. And for what – some lavish parties and access to inner circles. Human nature is so self-centered. Anybody tells you differently, they’re just in denial. Here’s one of my favorite parts where a typical ego-maniac politician blames everyone but himself for his own indiscretions:

A few days later, in October, Brumberger flew from New York to Chicago to join Edwards for a trip to China. “Hey, I need to talk to you,” Edwards said abruptly when they met in the terminal at O’Hare. They walked together to the airline’s premium lounge, where Edwards had reserved a private meeting room for their conversation. “Sit,” Edwards said and then tore into Brumberger.

Stuff from the road is getting back to people, and it’s obviously you who’s doing it, Edwards said angrily. You didn’t recognize who you work for. You don’t work for Nick and Peter. You work for me. I trusted you like a son, but you broke my trust. I can’t have you around me anymore. You’re not coming to China, and you’re never working for me again.

Brumberger’s heart sank. “I’m sorry you feel that way,” he said. “I always thought my goal in all of this was to do everything I could to help you become the next president of the United States.”

“Why didn’t you come to me?” Edwards asked.

“I did come to you! I came to you in Ohio. I called you after Labor Day! I tried!”

“No,” Edwards said. “Why didn’t you come to me like a fucking man and tell me to stop fucking her?”

They were both yelling now at the top of their lungs, red-faced and teary-eyed. (”You’re a 27-year-old kid, and I’m a grown man!” Edwards railed. “Don’t you think I’ve thought about this?”) But when Edwards finally regained his composure, he seemed to recognize the implications of sacking Brumberger. Let’s talk about all this when I get back, he said.

But Brumberger had had enough. Crushed and mortified, he was finished with Edwards.

Brumberger’s firing sent shock waves through the campaign. Baldick, Rubey, and longtime communications adviser David Ginsberg followed him out the door that autumn of 2006. All three gave Edwards pretexts for quitting, but for them there was no escaping the conclusion that the candidate was diddling Hunter and that he was hell-bent on resisting the efforts of the people closest to him to save him from himself.

And to think that Silky Pony could have been president. (Shudders)

Exit question: Remember when Obama said on the campaign trail how people would say not to vote for him because he has a funny name, he’s black, and that his face wouldn’t look like the guys on the dollar bill, etc.? He was trying to insinuate that Republicans or those not voting for him were only racially-motivated in not voting for him. Too bad it looks like he was talking mainly about people within his own party. But anyone who’s a former liberal knows that the most racially-insensitive people you’ll meet are liberals themselves.  Game Change is a book really shedding the sunshine on things most of us already know.

Remember when our new Liberal Dictatorship in DC went apesh*t over AIG throwing a $400k conference that ultimately would have helped them develop business (new business that would help them bring in revenue and payback the taxpayer-funded loan they were granted). Yeah, well, apparently spending that kind of money in the private sector is not okay and calls for pitchfork mobs in the media and then unconstitutional retroactive tax legislation. Geeeeeeeet ‘em Richies!!!!

But then fast forward a few months down the line and all of the sudden it’s okay for a literally failing and scheduled to be BANKRUPT (that is no funds) government organization to spend twice that – $700,000 to be exact – on a conference that includes airfare, hotel “entertainment”, motivational speakers, food, and WAIT.FOR.IT – dancers. Because nothing will make your SS account yield more profit than lazy government workers shakin’ what their mama gave ‘em.

It turns out that Social Security, which I deem the federal government’s official Ponzi scheme that keeps the elderly & lower economic classes poor, can get away with spending double the amount of taxpayer money that they then publicly chide AIG for doing the same with. (via Instapundit)

I understand that AIG’s event was from the perspective of educating its sales force to then develop business for more high-end clients and that as such could have been more appropriate to have been hosted at the company’s headquarters. But so was this conference for the Social Security Administration:

The SSA provided ABC15 with a list of courses provided at the conference, which included “Techniques to Empower You,” “Mentoring the Generations,” and “Emotional Intelligence.”  But the information provided by the SSA did not mention an after-hours casino trip, family members staying at the hotel, or the 20-minute dance party ABC15 observed.

So if the conferences were technically the same in format, structure and participants how come it’s okay for the SSA but not AIG? Here’s what Obama said during the AIG occurrence:

“The Treasury should demand that money back and those executives should be fired.”

Gee, what’s the response now? I totally agree for once with the Unicorn Princess - Social Security should be eliminated and the tax payers should demand their money back.

Like a true wacko far-left nutroot you seem to don’t understand that for every action there is a reaction and that despite your ill attempts at rationalizing illogic you continue to not understand the golden rule of life: ie, do unto others as you would have done onto you. Or in a term 5 year olds can understand – If you can’t take it, then don’t dish it out in the first place.

Apparently Mr. Epitome-of-the-Spoiled-Brat-Gen-Yer got a dish of revenge served cold in the form of a black eye after apparently somebody got tired of his verbal abuse. So what better way to defend oneself than taking to the webcam to vent, recap and use derogatory terms to refer to one’s opponent as a bigot. Ah, don’t you love the smell of contradicting liberals in the morning!

Carrie Prejean I hope is getting a good laugh at this. While I don’t advocate for violence, I’m not going to stand in the way of a douchebag who refers to women as Cee U Next Tuesdays getting his ass rightfully kicked. And notice in Perez’s artful rant he calls his opponent every degrading term ever used in biogtry against homosexuals – and this is a guy who’s preaching tolerance for the rights of homosexuals. Gee, and I wonder why I could have possibly decided the faces of the Democrat party underneath it all no longer represent minorities and the tolerance of the individual’s right when push comes to shove.

Wells Fargo received TARP money and was scolded by the media, Congress and President Unicorn Princess for conducting lavish parties when they are in need of financial assistance. Even AIG was scolded for a company party.  I see their point – you’re leaning on the govt. for funds so why do you continue to be throwing money at luxuries that we don’t see as a high priority.

But it seems that Obama came out to good Sin City to help support his BFF Harry Reid in a fundraiser. (via HotAir) Uh, didn’t Obama say the government had NO money??? If we’re in financial trouble then why all the lavish parties in Vegas?

And don’t give me the bull about it being about politics or growing the economy by conducting business. Why can’t those other companies grow the economy too by hosting events that ultimately are done for business development? Why can’t Reid take a cue from Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL) and learn to host events at places that are not CAESAR’s PALACE! Schock is coming to Chicago for a fundraiser and the event is at Rockit Bar & Grill, not the Signature Room.

Well, you’re welcome – cause now you’ve heard of literally one of the funniest sites around. Here’s one of my personal favorite rants from 2005 about Cameron Diaz’s failed pro-eco traveling show Trippin’. Maddox’s (the author) rant on celebrity elitism and far left stances on global warming are spot on. You’ve got to read the entire thing – and if you do and don’t laugh even once I’d dare say you don’t have what they call a sense of humor.

At one point in the show they go to a village made of shit (literally, cow shit) and Diaz calls it “beautiful” and “inspiring.” Yeah, just not beautiful and inspiring enough to give up any of the three mansions you own, right you disingenuous bitch?

Every time she opens her gaping mouth, she spews more self-righteous bullshit all over the place. One of my favorite lines is when she says “it’s kind of gotten out of hand how much of a convenience we think we need.” Diaz, who makes around $20 million per picture and drives a Lexus, was able to say this with a straight face. What the hell is that supposed to mean, “convenience we think we need”? We don’t need it asshole, we want it. I like being able to get hot water, hot food, and hot porn whenever I want. Just as soon as you give up your mansion and live in a shit hut with your multi-millionaire boyfriend, we might give a shit about your criticism of the modern conveniences.

And Maddox does an even better job of calling out that fallacy of “carbon credits” the left likes to moufbarf out anytime somebody calls them properly out on their hypocrisy *cough*Al Gore*cough*Leo “Flying Charter” DiCaprio*cough*cough.

Of course, having a show in which the hosts prattle on and on about conservation and environmental causes, it makes you wonder how they’re able to do it without sounding like giant hypocrites as they fly around on helicopters and jets, all while using enough electricity to power a small city. Simply put: they can’t, but that doesn’t stop them from trying.

The way they try to avoid this nagging ideological contradiction is by stating: “Trippin’ has offset all the pollution created from energy use in making the show, to ensure that it would not contribute to global warming.” They supposedly do this by buying “clean air credits.” Great idea assholes, so instead of owning up to your shitty ideals and not polluting, you pay someone else not to pollute. Maybe we should all try to pay someone off every time we want to do something that might inconvenience us. I was going to go on a diet, but it’s too hard, so I’m going to pay someone else to diet for me. I was going to do a show about community service, but doing the actual work was too inconvenient, so I’m going to pay someone to do it for me. Eat shit you elitist morons.

It’s so easy for people perched on a mountain of money to lecture those without on the adaptability to learn to live without. Easy to say we should curve our materialistic needs when you make $20 million for 3-6 months work. For most people like me and extravagance is going shopping once every six months and spending $200 at Khol’s or JC Penney. So yeah, I find it a little hard to agree with you on how we as a society need to do more with less. Umm, how about you first since you’re the one suffering so much guilt that you’ve chosen to do nothing but open up yo’ mouffff up about it??? Just sayin’, guuuuuuuuuuuurl.

Green technologies while good for the earth are also very, very expensive due to the fact they are still in the early adopters phase of market use and therefore are not ideal nor good for the pocketbook of a person who lives paycheck to paycheck. I think like most celebrities, Diaz & crew only do things like this because they are more motivated by the idea of themselves as influencers than actually serving the underlying mission of the message. Ultimately, like any good liberal the political position is more about lifting their own profile than actually doing work that benefits the cause. They have millions upon millions of dollars and couple that with the fact MTV was footing the bill – you’re telling me there wasn’t a way to better educate people on the environment than going to a random jungle via the MTV VIP helicopter? If you really believe that then you truly deserve to have the govt. come in and plunder your ass into poverty while others idly stand by benefiting from the redistribution.

The thing is, I actually like Cameron Diaz – as an actress. I like her movies, think she can be very pretty. But stick to acting, Cam, and step away from the political soapbox before you embarrass yourself more with you’re oblivious hypocrisy.

The other week the National Organization for Marriage ran an ad showcasing front and center how the left bullies, demonizes and belittles those who are guilty of nothing more than expressing an opinion (which is a freedom in this country under the 1st #$%@#$ Amendment for FREE SPEECH!)

Well, I guess Perez couldn’t handle the mirror put up to his bigot face and has been all over the place forcing YouTube to take down the video by stating its a violation of copyright. Ummm, WTF? Please, it’s only a copyright violation in his eyes because he’s being called out (properly) on his obnoxious behavior which is inappropriate and typical of the far left loons.  I didn’t see him claiming copyright when NBC’s The Today Show (and other liberal MSM) ran the EXACT same clip but then interviewed him or Miss California Carrie Prejean immediately afterward.

It is clear that Hilton is embarrassed by what he said, and he is using a transparently frivolous copyright claim to try to squelch free speech about his ridiculous statements.

If Hilton sends me a DMCA takedown notice, I’m going to fight it — and I may sue him. I have never seen a clearer example of fair use in my life. The video shows a mere three seconds of Hilton calling Prejean a “dumb bitch” (the word is bleeped out). Later, there is a one-second clip of the same video confined to a small box at the bottom right-hand portion of the screen, as the announcer intones: “They want to silence opposition.” He had no idea how right he was.

Dare I say I’ve acquired another internet crush a la Steven Crowder and Michael Yon???? I’m sure liberals would challenge me when I say that these are real men women admire as opposed to sniveling weasels like Perez, Keith and that Daily Kos monkeyboy. (rolling eyes) Yes, liberals…I’d much prefer a guy who wants me to be near the underage limit (a la Keith) and to just sit there with my mouth shut making sure I don’t do anything feministic like voice a mature, intelligent opinion based on facts. You know, as opposed to conservative men who can appreciate an ALPHA Female (and a boisterous one at that). Go Democrats for women’s rights!

Now here’s a movie that sheds some light on how women are treated over in some countries in the Eastern world – The Stoning of Soraya M. (emphasis mine)

This resonant book portrays the ugliness of fundamentalist Islamic mob justice in Khomeini-era Iran. Sahebjam, an Iranian journalist based in France who has written critically of the regime, returned to his homeland under cover in 1986. While visiting a small town he calls Kupayeh, he learned how an innocent 35-year-old woman had been stoned to death for supposed infidelity. His thorough reporting, based on a further visit to the village, reconstructs Soraya’s life and killing with much dialogue and interior monologue. Soraya gave birth to nine children in 14 years and her husband Ghorban-Ali also turned to prostitutes. He became involved in shady business deals and began to associate with Sheik Hassan, a criminal who was appointed Ayatollah Khomeini’s local representative. When Ghorban-Ali, having fallen in love with another woman, accused his wife of infidelity, villagers lied to aid him and Soraya was left with no support in the town. Her two eldest sons sat on the male tribunal that declared her guilty, and she was stoned by a mob that included her father.

I’m sure it will receive terrible reviews because 1). It depicts a true story of how women are oppressed in the Middle East (not ALL of the Middle East, but a majority), 2). Stars Jim Caviezel (which kudos to him for not letting Hollywood bully him into a disappearing act after the backlash on Passion of the Christ), and 3). is not an “America’s military efforts all post-1990 are war mongerist” portrayal. Not that it’s a pro-military movie by any means, but it just seems lately that any movie out of Hollywood which is set in the Middle East must never show the violent tendencies that exist in this part of the world even though they are ubiquitously present. I mean I watched the movie A Mighty Heart and even that movie wouldn’t go near the portrayal of Daniel Pearl’s kidnappers as the disgusting, violent terrorists that they were.

I think this summer I’m going to get the book this movie is based on and read it. Plus the book is banned in Iran (BIG SURPRISE) so just buying it will bring a smile across my face because I’m sticking it to Ahmajenidad in some way. Sarah in an earlier post also recommended these other books for educating yourself about the lives of women in the Middle East – The Bookseller of Kabul and The Places In Between.

Also, keep in mind when you hear some liberal talk about how this doesn’t go on anymore to look at something other than Wikipedia and YouTube comments for his defense on that argument. Stoning of women goes on in many places of the world, and unfortunately these women are given no chance to defend themselves against the lies that typically cause them to be stoned to death. Remember, in American if violence is conducted against a woman the perp is prosecuted, but a lot of times in these countries for religious/cultural reasons the women are the ones who half to suffer punishment for acts of violence committed AGAINST them in the first place.

One more thing to keep in mind is that this story happened under the rule of the Ayatollah Khomeini and thugs in his tyrannical dictatorship were connected to this particular incident. Guess which president led to the Ayatollah coming into power because of his inept foreign policy?
