Friends of mine over at Facebook have been bringing up some interesting evidence in regards to how apparent the media cares about the “pertinent” news affecting Americans (you know, those people who are THEIR AUDIENCE!). Via The Wall Street Journal (emphasis mine):

An Associated Press dispatch, written by Erica Werner and Richard Alonso-Zaldivar, compares the House and Senate ObamaCare bills. We’d like to compare this dispatch to the AP’s dispatch earlier this week “fact checking” Sarah Palin’s new book. Here goes:

Number of AP reporters assigned to story:
• ObamaCare bills: 2
• Palin book: 11

Number of pages in document being covered:
• ObamaCare bills: 4,064
• Palin book: 432

Number of pages per AP reporter:
• ObamaCare bill: 2,032
• Palin book: 39.3

On a per-page basis, that is, the AP devoted 52 times as much manpower to the memoir of a former Republican officeholder as to a piece of legislation that will cost trillions of dollars and an untold number of lives. That’s what they call accountability journalism.

People are screaming left and right for more details about this massive healthcare boondoggle, and THIS is what the media is reporting on.

Gee, way to go there, Norah, with your hard hitting journalism. I love how the guy at the end of the clip also takes time bring O’Donnell’s own misinterpretation to light.  O’Donnell vetted a tween who probably cares as much as Edward Cullen as she does Sarah Palin’s new book, but when it comes to exposing federally-funded organizations promoting illegal sex-trade rings she suddenly turns investigative reporting into “entrapment.” Yeah, goooo, Norah, goooooo! You’re only a few million steps from that “well-deserved” Peabody.

And yet liberals are flabbergasted like a DJ “Oh Mylanta” Tanner when you talk about the obvious liberal bias (or bias in general) in the media.

You, to this day, rerun Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin skit without any hesitation to inform the viewer about the fabrications held in the impersonation, but SNL turns its radar onto Obama and suddenly Wolf Blitzer is ‘oh, no you didn’t say that about my boooooyfriend!!!’ (via HotAir) Were you not hugged enough during the last eight years or something, Wolfie?

Also, Slublog over at AoS gives a nice photoshop shoutout to Wolfie. “In the Line of Parody” – freakin’ hilarious. Made me inspired, so took on an oldie and did a Hollywood remake some justice for once.  Threw in Stewart because too many people (aka liberals) worship him as a journalist while he passes sarcastic commentary as reporting while following no journalism rules to objectivity or what’s. that. thing…..oh yeah – reporting THE FACTS! And Bathtub Boy is in there because he pisses himself everytime he can use facist and Republican, to draw improper comparisons no less, in the same sentence.

Here’s The Stossel on the hyped up myths of the financial crisis in order to fuel the myth of support for increased government spending. Agenda setting, say what!!!!

Also, at the end when Stossel asks if this will work the response is “I Hope so.”

Obviously, like the day after my 21st birthday, SOMEBODY got herself sobered up. It’s hard growing up and realizing the truth to liberal myths when you’re fed them more than half your life. Sometimes the hangover is brutal and just takes time to get over – of course with promises that you’ll never go back there again (I PROMISE!).

For those of you not associated with communications theory, here is a basic concept of agenda setting:

Agenda-setting is the creation of public awareness and concern of salient issues by the news media. Two basis assumptions underlie most research on agenda-setting: (1) the press and the media do not reflect reality; they filter and shape it; (2) media concentration on a few issues and subjects leads the public to perceive those issues as more important than other issues. One of the most critical aspects in the concept of an agenda-setting role of mass communication is the time frame for this phenomenon. In addition, different media have different agenda-setting potential. Agenda-setting theory seems quite appropriate to help us understand the pervasive role of the media (for example on political communication systems).

As the years have gone by my own experience in the media, pr and advertising have only increased my belief in this theory. We can see it apparent in how the liberal MSM treats issues with political (and corporate/financial) ties like national healthcare, global warming and most recently the grassroots-organized tea parties. Combine that with the fact that many news organizations are owned by companies that have deep political and lobbying ties to candidates/political parties. Doubting this agenda setting? Side Rant: It’s funny to me that the only people that refer to the Tea Party protesters as ‘teabagging’ were weasel, bad-joke-telling liberals in the MSM. Liberals and MSM anchors/commentators make the worst comics, don’t they? Heh. But anyLarryTheCableGuy, aside from that the one commentator makes an excellent point:

“A bigger point is that this administration is starting to tell whole industries what to do. It tells Detroit what cars to make. It tells the banks what make [sic] loans to make. Now it’s in the business of telling supposedly independent news organizations what to broadcast, what line they should come up with. And allows this kind of hatred, hate speech – this is extraordinary.”

I mean, what IS next…Is the government going to dictate what we eat by regulating industry to produce only certain ‘green’ foods?  Are the types of clothes we choose to wear manipulated by government to industry when it comes to materials and production used in creating those clothes? Last time I checked manipulating customer’s choice behind the scenes on the backend is still diminishing the concept of individualism. Instead of dictating to the individual, govt. is now taking the path of least awareness by silently limiting the types of choice the individual has.

Well, I guess not everyone is keen on that and is starting to catch on. Seems that shareholders at GE are a little fed up with their investment dollars being used to push a far-left only agenda at GE’s owned media NBC News and MSNBC. Sounds like a “certain” Chairman at GE was getting schooled…

Later, during the umpteenth question about MSNBC, another shareholder’s microphone was cut, according to multiple attendees.

“The crowd was very upset with MSNBC because of its leftward tilt,” one attendee said. “Some former employees said they were embarrassed by it.”

One specific complaint about MSNBC concerned Keith Olbermann’s interview of actress Janeane Garofalo, who likened conservatives to racists and spoke of “the limbic brain inside a right-winger.”

Imagine what people would think if this is what they saw in their nightly news vs. the skewed crap the liberal MSM tries to program us with. I’m not saying there aren’t people who say that, but to say there were people with signs that said that in Chicago, ummm…

The thing that makes me so mad about her snarky remarks while objectively (snickers) covering the story is her ‘$50 billion’ quip. Hey, nitwit, if it’s so great that our state got $50 billion then why are the Democrats in our state govt., like Gov. Pat Quinn, raising our income taxes by 50%???

You know that classic saying luck is preparation meets opportunity. Well apparently Matthews has never heard that. Well, maybe he’s heard it but his pigeon-sized brain (No offense to pigeons!) is so full of other nonsense (like remembering to wet himself everytime Obama speaks) that he just didn’t have room to retain it.

Ed Morrissey makes the best point:

Todd gets it right when he notes that the SEALs and other commando units prepare constantly for just this kind of mission, and that their skills are honed to the nth degree.  That ain’t luck — it’s preparation, training, and excellent command decisions, the qualities that actually produce leaders people follow. 

Then to break the Guinness Book of World Records’ backpedaling best, he showcases this lame-ass excuse (video at via HotAir).

I was taken aback by that peculiar stagecraft, the walking from somewhere in the back of this narrow hall, this winding staircase looming there, the odd anti-bellum look of the scene. Was this some mimicking of a president walking along the state floor to the East Room?

Ohhhh, Nooooo!…windy staircases. Awwww!….narrow hallways. Was Thrill Boy having a faaaaaaaabulous Wizard of Oz moment? Staircase, hallway, anti-bellum, Oh MY!

Please, Thrill Boy just got his ass put in a corner and now he’s just trying to scratch his way out of it with a shred of dignity (if he had any in the first place) left. As Allphapundit said at HotAir…

Anyways, here’s Helen defending what she meant when she referred to “so-called terrrorists” during Obama’s media conference last week. Because you know, there’s really no actual terrorists according to Thomas, they’re just misunderstood freedom fighters.

Not surprising but Thomas totally misses the point that most of these “freedom fighters” are not fighting for the freedom of citizens of their own country even. And it’s not for the free will of the country’s citizens, but the right to go back to oppressing those citizens.  I’m sorry but when extremists use suicide bombings and conduct mass murders through violence in public areas as a means to further their oppressive religious agenda that is not being a freedom fighter. And when other governments and citizens stand up to fight back against those extremists to prevent further slayings of innocent citizens, that’s doesn’t equate their defensive actions with the violence conducted by those “freedom fighters.” Last time I checked, Uday and Qusay Hussein’s rape rooms under their father’s regime in Iraq were not a means for establishing women’s rights.

Regardless, as a journalist, especially one on the highest national level, it makes Thomas look professionally irresponsible and unethical the more she continues to be an advocate. If she wants to be the PR head honcho for these “so-called terrorists” then go work for a liberal think tank like the Theresa Heinz-Kerry-funded Brookings Institute. Don’t sit on a pedastal of best practices in journalism while going against all objective-based principles of the field.
