Americans are actually dead against closing Gitmo and releasing terrorists on US soil? Der-ka-duuuuuuuuuuuuuurh! You. Don’t. Say.

Good grief. Gee, wonder where the media would have gotten then a half-brain idea about people thinking it was a good idea. Maaaaaaaaah baloney has a first name. It’s O-B-A-M-A.

Here’s my pet peeve….how exactly did Gitmo ” become a symbol of U.S. arrogance and abuse”? Maybe it had something to do with all the screeching from people on the left like Obama, Andrew Sullivan and the rest. Gitmo wasn’t self-discrediting, it took the work of people opposed to the US taking strong measures to defend itself in the wake of 9/11.

And people have the audacity to say the media is actually right-wing biased. Pffffffffffffft.

For those of you who may not have heard Sean Hannity announced that he would be willing to waterboard himself as a challenge to Keith (MurrowWannabe) Olbermann and that for every second he’s under one of them would pay so much money. MurrowWannabe takes Hannity up on his challenge in the name of donating money to charity. No word from Hannity. Cue fame-hungry pundit celebrity!

AnyParisHiltonWannabe, Mancow Muller decides to waterboard himself to prove it’s not torture while he’s on the air for his conservative/libertarian radio talk show. (via Jim Blazsik)

Click here to view the embedded video.

As you see in the video, he then claims immediately afterward that he was tortured. But really he doesn’t prove anything and in his haste for ratings, notary or just not taking a breath to process he does a disservice to really understanding the concept and effectiveness of EITs like waterboarding. Way to go, Mancow! Sacrificing transparency and understanding through application in return for a ratings jump all while masking your attempt in “honesty to your viewers.” Even though I’m not liberal anymore, I still can get irritated with conservatives/libertarians when they aren’t using common sense.

Here’s the deal and I think Jim Blazsik does a WAY better job of explaining this than I. Liberals argue that the US has lost it barring on the morality compass and our reputation with the world by allowing these acts. They argue as if the Bush Administration had a “Come GIT UR Waterboardin’ ON!” hoedown at the Pentagon. Pahleaze! First, let’s do an accurate background check on what the effects of waterboarding is before we cry wolf when it comes to defining torture. Waterboarding is, yes, physically discomforting but does not result in permanent physical damage. In fact, doctors were present to ensure this during the time it was conducted soon after 9/11 to ONLY 3 individuals terrorists.

What people don’t realize is that the definition of torture is SUBJECTIVE, ie based on your individual perspective. So what I constitute as torture will not be what the person sitting next to me thinks it is. Waterboarding I believe may result in some psychological pain but as for it being physical brutality that would constitute criminal abuse charges – I don’t think it is that. If it did then I know about 30 guys from my high school cross country team who should be brought up on charges for doing the same to teenage boys who were guilty of nothing more than being awkward teenagers, not terrorists guilty of mass murder who knew information on future attacks.

Mancow was freaked out and shaken up by the process, but enhanced interrogation isn’t intended to be a walk in the park. He isn’t a hardened Islamic terrorist dedicated to killing innocent Jews and Christians. Mancow walks away with all his fingers and toes, and his face will remain the same. He’ll have some bad memories, but I still have some bad memories of Michael Moore and Lanny Davis. We’ll get over it.

Let us remember that only three terrorists went through this process. This happened right after 9/11, when we found ourselves vulnerable after that fateful day. Why only three? They were determined to have pertinent information of future terrorist attacks.

Does this mean that something unpleasant defines it as torture? Well, not necessarily. I don’t think getting interrogated at the local Chicago Precinct is a real treat either but again its not torture. Have you seen how our cops in Chicago behave? Hear about the story of Chicago police beating up a guy in a wheelchair? Yet in those cases, you didn’t hear liberals chiming up about how those cases were torture or that Chicago has lost its morality! In fact, you didn’t hear for the prosecution of the entire police force OR the city’s administration (although, I’m a fan of throwing Mayor McCheese in the slammer any day of the week!).

But alas, fame trumps principles and Mancow takes the bait hook, line and sinker to go on Olbermann’s show. Which is funny because I think it’s one of the few times I’ve seen Olbermann actually interview a conservative/libertarian on-air, and SURPRISE its only when said opposing pundit agrees with him. (via HotAir) What a chicken shit.

Of course in the interview they don’t get to the underlying principle of the matter, which should be: Having experienced waterboarding do you still approve of its use on Islamic terrorists who are planning to kill hundreds of innocent Americans in order to get information to stop their impending attack?

Instead Olbermann and Mancow play a game of footsie like they’re two love-crushin’ middle schoolers. Get a room, fellas, if you’re going to just waste my time. I’m looking for actual information, not nonsense clouded by irrelevant tangents like “Was it torture?” “How did you feel?” Gee, Mancow didn’t like the waterboarding. And the Captain Obvious Award of the Day goes too……

On a side note, I saw a lot of commenters on Blazsik’s blog trying to demonize his thoughts as being “unChristian” and making them “doubt religion even more if this is their believes on waterboarding and torture.” Don’t you just love how liberals throw in tangents like religion and Christianity, as if they have a real clue about either in the first place. Nobody was talking about religion, just about the parameters of what defines torture and within that definition when or if is torture justified. But yet, liberals always have to go to the anti-Christianity argument as they completely ignore the fact that Islamic extremism is what is making these people terrorists in the first place.

But to this I cue Jim Treacher’s comment – it’s so perfect and I’d love to see a liberal squirm getting it thrown in their face while perched up on their faux morality pedastal:

I’m sure that everyone who thinks Obama did the right thing by authorizing the killing of those Somali pirates is lining up to be shot in the head. If it’s such an effective technique for saving American lives, why don’t YOU try it?

UPDATE: Looks like I’m not the only questioning Mancow’s earnest when it came to his waterboarding “truth seeking” stunt. Hmmmm…

His speech at the American Enterprise Institute is probably 3 years overdue, but still better late then never.

Here is the first video (more after the jump), and a link to the transcript on my Facebook page. The best way to experience it is by listening to the video while reading the transcript.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Best quote by far:

Our government prevented attacks and saved lives through the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which let us intercept calls and track contacts between al-Qaida and persons inside the United States. The program was top secret, and for good reason, until the editors of the New York Times got it and put it on the front page.

Daaaaaaaaaaaayum! Somebody’s getting called out like a mofo! I say – Go, Cheney, Go!

It’s about time people listen up to what was actually going on with terrorists and why theses measures were put in place. I work six blocks from the Sears Tower. I’d like to keep working and stay alive. If that means some terrorist serial killer gets a the equivalent of 80 swirlies in one month, then yes, so be it. I have this thing I like to do called living. Or as Matthew McConaughey would say – L.I.V.I.N.

You may say that makes me encouraging the US degrading its moral standing in the world (eyes rolling!) but to that I say you cherish a terrorists comfort over mine and other American citizen’s right to life. I can see the need for intellectual debate about torture, but first let’s see some actual torturing taking place by the hands of the US. Yes, if starvation, electrocution, beheadings, or abuse that resulted in permanent physical anguish is being done then we’d have something to talk about. But the Paris-Hilton-jail treatment is not worth my time debating.

Confused by the title? Yeah, no kidding. Ah, just another day in the life of party politics.

Okay, I’ll admit I can sometimes be blinded by politics. Hey, it happens to us all. Nobody is innocent even though I have tons of far left friends who would argue otherwise about themselves. Because that’s how you are when you’re a liberal. Your POV is right and there’s nothing else, even FACTS, that can prove you wrong. Pfffffffffffff. O-oookay.

So this cracks me up. Over the last week during the whole swine flu “epidemic” Democrats have taken their unsubstantiated shots at Republicans for not doing enough to prepare for a flu pandemic. Like for instance, opposing more funding in the porkulus. (via Michelle Malkin)

Well, it didn’t take long for partisan Democrats to blame the swine flu outbreak on the Republican Party.

Here’s the line: Since House Republicans all opposed the trillion-dollar-porkulus, which included funding for pandemic preparations, it’s all. Our. Fault.

That’s it??? That’s the evidence that Republicans are responsible for not being ready for the swine flu??? Because they took a general stand against the out-of-control-spending porkulus which happened to have a little funding for pandemic preparations??? Yeah, don’t let MAH eye roll beat down all that restylane in your lips Smancy Pelotox.

What liberals and the MSM don’t want to bother telling you is that under the Bush Administration, the Department of Homeland Security worked with the Treasury department (and other depts.) to come up with business continuity plans for industries in the event of OH! wait for it….

A Flu Pandemic.

You mean the GOP had a hand in actual pandemic preparations??? GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

And there’s even a lovely report on it from the private sector I work in …..BAM!

Now, I know this would be a lot to ask, but do you think people in Congress could do a thing called reading before running their yaps to add to their B-roll from MSNBC about how Republicans didn’t support pandemic preparedness???

I’ll give you a little heads up too – the report I’m referencing was conducted in 2007, and the report was finalized and distributed in January 2008. I know because I worked on the project. And I know for a fact this project wasn’t just confined to the financial/banking industry even though that sector primarily financed it. There’s even a Flu Pandemic Exercise web site if anyone in the media would bother conducting a Google search *cough*The Nation*cough*.

So riddle me this, liberals – how are Republicans against funding preparations for flu pandemics when they’ve been doing so for the last 2 years under the Bush Administration??? Are you going to tell me that they are against national security the next time they oppose your spending bills even though they created the DHS out of nothing?

The other interesting point that I’ll note is how politics play huge into people’s influence when it comes to upholding objectivity while conducting their jobs. When it came time to create the introduction to this report, one of the writers of this report objected to the acknowledgment of President Bush in the report.

Why? As Michelle Malkin would say – NAME. THAT. PARTY! Because you guessed it – the writer is an uuuuuuuuber liberal – and I know for a fact because he is liberal that’s why he didn’t want to include the reference to the sitting President. If he ever came across this, he’d probably deny it. But come on folks, let’s be real…if this report was created under Captain Kool-Aid’s administration how much you wanna bet that same person would have been begging for Obama’s headshot to be on the front cover.

Alex, I’ll take Liberal Hypocrisy for $1,000.

Now 58% of the country believes you’ve damaged our national security by opening up a huge can of worms all because you couldn’t stand up to your base and give them the old STFU stance to their non-evidence-based smears on the CIA’s minimal use of heightened interrogation tactics. (via HotAir)

If Barack Obama hoped to convince America that Dick Cheney was wrong about Obama making America less safe by releasing the interrogation memos, the latest Rasmussen poll shows he badly miscalculated. Despite his own high personal approval ratings and Cheney’s low scores, 58% of respondents believe that Obama endangered national security. Only 28%, far below the numbers of his own party, believe it helped America enhance its image abroad

Uhhhh, torture, torture, torture. Dude, all this talk about America “torturing” murdering-innocents-evil terrorists is torture to MAH #%@#$@ ears. Anywhinycitizen, here’s my beef – since when did the US start behaving like Paris Hilton during her stint in the big house when it comes to whether or not the CIA’s interrogation tactics constitute torture???

Whaaaaaa…Whaaaaaaaaaaaa, I can’t take it. The interrogators talked in a loud voice, cranked up music, fed the terrorists TASTELESS-but-nutrient-packed food! GAAAAAAAAAAA! The horror. I mean this is America…Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

There, there NYT editorial staff – it’ll be okay. Shhhhhh.

I’ve seen a lot of people in liberalland – aka Facebook – feverishly update their status and posting about locking up the Bush Administration and throwing away the key. (In my best rabies, slobbering fanatic voice “Bush is the Deeeeeeeeeeeeeevil!”) Even though according to the CIA memos the interrogation techniques were like playing patty cake when compared to what other countries do to their POWs *cough*Hanoi Hilton *cough*.

The thing that’s really interesting is about half the people I know who are anti-American “torture” are also the same moral policemen who idly stood by as weaker kids were given swirlies in the boys’ locker room during cross-country practice in high school. So funny to me they’ve suddenly grown a conscience and are adamantly against “torture” they have never seen with their own eyes. But when somebody was enduring an emotionally-damaging water dunking less than 3 feet in front of them they not only did nothing but cheered on in their desperate attempt to experience the false utopia of acceptance. Oh, but silly me – that’s just the Pelosi defense.

Truth be told I’m no expert but have this little trick I can do called reading. Ummm, I already know what you’re thinking – J-E-A-L-O-U-S.

But honestly, it’s like even now when the CIA memos have been released and people can read for themselves how non-torturous these interrogations were, OH! and that they worked – how can you claim that America and the Bush Administration were in violation of human rights when they saved human lives? If that’s your stance, regardless of the evidence that speaks to the contrary, then I’d guess you’re not for the general concept of prisons either. Poor, poor terrorists – they did nothing wrong and we’re just misunderstanding their freedom to express their sinister desires even though they trample on the right to life of their fellow man in the process. Yeah, poor terrorist. Pffffffffff.

To me the Army Manual field techniques vs. the CIA Interrogation techniques are like detectives out in the field interrogating witnesses vs. police interrogating the kidnapping/murder suspect who’s taunting police and not giving up the vital information that could save a life. Does that make me someone who cheers on those who abuse others? No.

But if you’re a murdering asshole, then, yes, I believe getting dunked by water, stripped of your clothes, or just fed the equivalent of nutritionally-balanced oatmeal for all your 3-squares each day does not constitute my definition of what torture is. Guys down at the Cook County Prison suffer more on a daily basis. I realize they’re not getting the Camp Cupcake treatment, but they’re also not getting the Daniel Craig torturing in Casino Royale (despite what the NYT would have you believe). Medical and psychological professionals were present and according to the memos certified that the techniques did not induce permanent physical or mental damage. If after all of that you’re still on the smear bandwagon calling people like me, who support the CIA’s interrogation, cruel, well then I’ll just have to call you namby bambi weakling – caphice! Seriously, I don’t think people on the two sides of the coin are either (cruel, weak) but my patience has worn thin of putting up with moonbats crying wolf.

For a group that is comprised of people who go days without bathing, eat food without flavor in the desperate attempt to keep up with their tofu-only fad diets, listen to loud irritating music multiple days in a row, have a tendency to strip down naked, and are notorious for their “peaceful” antics of yelling like people released from the crazy bin, well, some of these liberals need to take a look in the mirror.

ORANGE ALERT! – these people are in violation of torturing themselves. Somebody lock ‘em up and throw away the key!

On Sunday, I’m going to watch National Geographic’s Inside Gitmo special. I’ve had in the DVR for a while, but I’ll take some time Sunday to blog about it. From what I gather its a look at to how well the prisoners were treated and how the system can work to both acquit valid suspects but yet restrain the world’s most dangerous. How much you want to bet though that all these people who are screaming smears about torture have never sat down once to actually learn the processes that go on at Gitmo? Ante up, liberals. AN. TE. UP.
