Even ending a near 40-year monopoly of a Senate seat by Dems in the bluest of blue states. Via HotAir:

I go to Washington as the representative of no faction or interest, answering only to my conscience and to the people. I’ve got a lot to learn in the Senate, but I know who I am and I know who I serve.

Wish I was in Florida’s 22nd Congressional District to vote for him. Lt. Colonel Allen West gives a much needed rallying cry at an event. Here’s hoping this video makes the rounds of the blogsphere and hopefully the media. Also, good luck MS-NBC unfairly labeling this guy a racist, even though he’s saying what those a tea parties have been saying for months. Video via Ace of Spades:

Hoooooooooo-rah!!!!

Ohhh…found another video of West at a townhall meeting, one he held after his opponent (the Deomcrat incumbent) refused to debate healthcare with him or have a townhall of his own for his constituents.

I’ve been reading up on this latest development all morning on HotAir. Of all things I had to hear about this from one of my liberal friends.

And I also want to send a special shout out of my middle finger to Andrew Sullivan. Because I’m sure his constant harassing with the Trig-not-mothered-by-Palin infatuation DID NOT HELP any matters for the party he supposedly is part of. Here’s a clue, Andrew, because clearly you have none – watch an episode of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant. Perhaps then you’ll learn a thing or two about the female anatomy – which of course is such a relevant prerequisite for vetting in order to run for any elected office (rolling MAH eyes). The idea this guy claims he is libertarian or conservative literally makes my skin crawl. I’m about to nominate his faux-decent-human-being-ass to Look At This F*cking Hipster. I have a feeling he’d fit right in with that crowd, bear crawls and all.

And to all the liberal women who will be cheering this resignation. Thanks a miiiiiiillion for stabbing your own gender in the back. You shout all you want about having the freedom to hate a woman who was guilty of nothing more in being a leader to a political ideology that you happened to not be in alignment with. Thanks for cheering the disappearment of yet another role model for our daughters. I’ll be resting soundly at night knowing that Palin is shunned into silence while Paris Hilton, famous for being a lady of the night and promoting Rock the Vote while being too lazy to register, still has a primetime show on MTV. Yeah, WAY.TO.GO, f*cktards.

But as one of Palin’s avid supporters I’m in utter shock and disappointment. I haven’t really had time to process, but in the words of Nancy Kerrigan – Whyyyyyyyyy, Sarah, Whyyyyyyyyyy? Honestly, WTF made you want to resign? WTF made you want to do it now as opposed to 2010 and just not run for re-election? If this was just you being sick of politics and the degredation of personalality/family in today’s media – then that’s fine. I can accept that, but YOU’VE got to say that. Not talk in encryted paraphrases for us to decode all the while you shame us in not decoding the message properly.

If you’re stepping down as some political chess move – I’m sorry to say that you’ve followed some bogus advice. I don’t think I could ever support a presidential candidate who quits in the middle of a term. That was a huge problem I had with Obama – that he was inexperienced having not completed even half a term of full working days in the Senate before he decided to run for the big office. Either way, good luck to ya, Palin. I’m at this point truly disappointed in the strategy choosen. I’ll probably still read your book if it comes out but I won’t support you necessarily as a political candidate in the future. But it seems to be up in the air, no thanks to your unclear explanation, as to whether you’ll be in politics in the future or not. C’est la vie, though.

Thank goodness! California needs the help of someone who know how to take something that’s worth $0 and turn it into a billion-dollars. Her business track record with one of California’s major businesses eBay is fantastic and hopefully she can parlay that business acumen into a much needed restructuring of the state’s budget.

Plus her background – Bachelor’s from Princeton in ECONOMICS! and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Ch-ch-cha-CHING! Especially now that they aren’t getting any federal bailout money – good plan, Arnie (snickers). I don’t know who would be the Democrat running against her except Gavin Newsom. Oh and he’s just got a “stellar” track record of budget constraints behind him, heh.

His speech at the American Enterprise Institute is probably 3 years overdue, but still better late then never.

Here is the first video (more after the jump), and a link to the transcript on my Facebook page. The best way to experience it is by listening to the video while reading the transcript.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Best quote by far:

Our government prevented attacks and saved lives through the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which let us intercept calls and track contacts between al-Qaida and persons inside the United States. The program was top secret, and for good reason, until the editors of the New York Times got it and put it on the front page.

Daaaaaaaaaaaayum! Somebody’s getting called out like a mofo! I say – Go, Cheney, Go!

It’s about time people listen up to what was actually going on with terrorists and why theses measures were put in place. I work six blocks from the Sears Tower. I’d like to keep working and stay alive. If that means some terrorist serial killer gets a the equivalent of 80 swirlies in one month, then yes, so be it. I have this thing I like to do called living. Or as Matthew McConaughey would say – L.I.V.I.N.

You may say that makes me encouraging the US degrading its moral standing in the world (eyes rolling!) but to that I say you cherish a terrorists comfort over mine and other American citizen’s right to life. I can see the need for intellectual debate about torture, but first let’s see some actual torturing taking place by the hands of the US. Yes, if starvation, electrocution, beheadings, or abuse that resulted in permanent physical anguish is being done then we’d have something to talk about. But the Paris-Hilton-jail treatment is not worth my time debating.

…May we never meet again!

So long, Mrs. Arlen Specter. I hardly needed to know you in my short time as a Republican to get on the bandwagon to kick yo’ ass to the curb.

Whenever there is a downturn in business, companies will do what I like to call getting rid of the dead weight.

So I’d like for neo-RINOs like Meghan McCain to understand this concept before they go running their mouffffff on how the GOP should use Specter’s turncoating ways as a tool for reflection on what the GOP has done wrong. (via HotAir)

Ummm, the GOP is just fine. We just need to trim off those unreliable members who are willing to sell their principles and votes to the highest bidder. I’m sorry, Specter’s I’ll-sell-my-porkulus-vote-for-a-WH-SuperBowl-ticket shrewd move was it for me. Maybe instead of worrying about how to retain corrupt politicians onto the GOP ticket, we should find ways to do more to streamline the party’s members to include only those who know how to read the bills they vote on! Just a thought.

Over on Sis B’s blog she puts out question for us conservatives to pony up some answers. (via TryingToGrok)

So, Republicans, what do you think? No sour grapes, no snark, no name-calling, no pointing fingers, no predicting America’s doom at the hand of the Democrats, no slogans, no quoting each other. Honest to god, if the country was in your hands, what would you want to do with it?

I guess it’s time to ante up, so what is my bet then? I’ll try to get through this with as little snarky commentary as possible. I’ll be like Nancy Pelosi at church – silent but deadly. DAMMITT! Too late….

Anylamejoke, to me, here’s the fundamental purpose of the federal government – to uphold the laws of the Constitution and be a central support system (not main regulating body) for the governing individual states.

The state governments should have more power than the federal, but unfortunately this has not been the path for federal politicians greeding it up, like dogs in heat, for more power and fame the last 100+ years.

The more we centralize government into one entity at the federal level, the more we merge into that dictatorship/utilitarianism ruling our ancestors fought so hard to get us away from many years ago.

And to make it worse, our society is being directed toward this governing methodology based on the premise of “free” and greed itself. Politicians are banking their elections on the message/brand of making everyone’s happiness come true instead of teaching citizens our Constitution was about the right to the PURSUIT of happiness, not the guarantee of having a smile on your face 24/7. People need to understand that government’s duty is not the equiavlent to what Nicole Kidman feels like everytime another shot of Botox airplanes it up to her Granny McFreeze forehead.

Also, the government shouldn’t be trying to emulate itself as a private enterprise and then spinning half truths to the JQ public in order to help keep it in business. If America was just a neighborhood and we found out that a local business lied to the community and as a result put the community in financial danger you would sure bet there would be pitchforks a coming. But for some reason when we put it on the national scale, people’s attitude then becomes “it’s not okay, but not enough to get me to do anything about it.” Awesome, America is now the land of Slaters from Dazed and Confused.

Check ya’ laaaater!!

Check ya’ later!

(Awesome tangent alert: I guess then we should start to believe that “Washington was in a cult and the cult was into aliens, man!”)

Here’s an idea – go back to acknowledging government as a civic platform again. If business needs to be done for the collective – outsource it to the private industry, not create yet another bureaucratic-no-results-office to oversee said progragm. Treat government work as a client-vendor relationship; paid for by citizens, but contracted to private business. You’ll increase capitalism, job growth and minimize the need to depend on increased tax revenue among citizens.

If government is going to expand its business credentials into running programs, then 1). make those programs accountable in both a quantitative and qualitative metrics, 2). Make those metrics transparent, 3). transfer federal programs to be at the state level so there is more citizen control over the structure (what’s good for Alaska isn’t always good for Florida), and 4). set pragmatic budget controls instead of always diverting to the same liberal answer of taxing more. Know the limitations of tax revenue and work within your operational/revenue constraints to get the job done. Private industry does it everyday whether they like it or not! But government programs follow none of these regulations, yet insist they need more money. Do we now need a fourth party to police the third party OR do we just need to exercise a bit of spending control and better management skills?

I don’t think government’s role should be to dominate and police our individual lives a la big brother. And when I say that I’m not talking about wire taps on suspected terrorists or those cavorting with terrorists. I’m talking about allowing enough leash for our government to keep us safe while also not coddling us via a nanny state where in 50+ years we don’t even know how to wipe our own nose without help from the government. “Blow for mommie now!”

As to the Constitution, I’ll hear many people chime that it’s a living document and should be treated as such. While I acknowledge that societies change and laws ruling said society should have versatility to adapt under necessary circumstances, I don’t then believe that every opportunity for change is for the better. Basically, I don’t think change should be implemented for the sake of change – Barack “America I love you, now change!” Obama, I’m talking to you.

If we go about making new legislation, those laws should be respected within the boundaries of the Constitution. Let’s respect our elders, and realize that government doesn’t need to butt its nose into every aspect of our lives (marriage contracts, volunteer requirements, military drafts, gun control laws, etc.). And if government insists on butting into our private lives then have some consistency – don’t acknowledge atheism under the right to religion in one arena around the holidays, but then disregard creationists’ right to acknowledge intelligent design when it comes to science/the classroom. Don’t fear women into putting up with abortion rights, but then turn around and persecute a woman for drinking/smoking during their pregnancy. Above all else, as the Declaration of Independence says, I believe our laws should respect our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – AND in that order. For without life and respecting everyone’s right to it, we’ll then never get to uphold the others.

As to ideas of changing government itself, here are some additional thoughts:

1. Set term limits on Congress
2. Set salary increase limits on Congress
3. Create online, open bidding processes for government contracts
4. Quit with the quota/minority-owned requirements which then increase costs on government contracts
5. Eliminate withholdings on the income and payroll taxes; make people more aware of how much they actually pay vs. how much they are “refunded”
6. Either privatize or wean citizens off of Social Security; it’s failing – literally – deal with it. If a house’s foundation is broken you don’t just put some spackle on it and cross your fingers for the next generation to deal with it.
7. Get rid of public education – make it private – allow for those who cannot afford school to be granted government funds to attend school of choice. If not, then make public education a two-way street – have tax dollars follow the child but make the child also play a part in applying to schools of choice.
8. Minimize government regulation in certain areas – unions, employee-based insurance, forcing banks to practice sub-prime lending, etc.
9. Do NOT allow federal funding of any organization that publicly advocates for political candidates. ACORN should not be receiving $200 million of federal funds for example.
10. Do NOT force the use of taxpayer money into humanitarian aid or force citizens into voluntary service. This is not government’s role. I think indentured servitude went out of style in the 1800s. Allow greater financial incentives for citizens to be more charitable.
11. To overturn Roe v. Wade, and if that isn’t possible then stop with the expanding of abortion-for-all-like-it’s-going-out-of-style sales in the legislature. We need restrictions on abortion. I’m waiting for when abortion is legal until the baby can actually speak they this Congress keeps going.
12. Minimize the govt.’s ability to approve of what goes on in your private household if consenting adults are only involved. If people want to committ themeselves to one, two, three, blue, brown, black, white, yellow, gay, straight people then who the frick cares – government should stay out. I don’t think government should be redefining religious institutions that our founding fathers adapted from religion into the basis for law in our government. Unfortunately for as forward thinking as our founding fathers were, I’m sure they did not imagine this predicament of redefining marriage. Ultimately, the federal government should be focusing its time on keeping our military men/women safe over sticking its nose in private affairs of adult citizens. Again keep it at the state level and keep it separate from redefining marriage. Call it unions across the board IF you believe different classifications are a violation of equal rights (even though technically its not a violation). If our founding fathers saw us creating the stink we’ve done over these petty issues while we have citizens risking their lives to protect our freedoms, I think we would all get the good old STINK EYE from them.

Somewhere down the line government veered away from being an entity of civic servants devoting part of their life to uphold the laws of the Constitution. It is now a money-grabbing game of professional politicians, ambition-hungry law students and selling the America’s freedoms to the highest lobbyist on Capitol Hill. And all while disguising it in the mask of fighting supposedly for “what’s right for the American people.”

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Via HotAir. Click the link to view the video (my sly way of trying to get you to check them out if you haven’t already).

Apparently Current TV (the network funded by Al Gore) put out a video depicting a caricature of Rush Limbaugh as Jabba the Hut and Meghan McCain as the ooooooooooonly “Republican” being able to bridge the gap between Dems and Reps – because you know, Dems are always trying to find a common ground (ROLLING EYES!). HotAir notes that Ms. McCain declared on her Twitter update the video as the funniest thing ever. Ed Morrissey makes an excellent point:

Er, wasn’t this the same young lady who got so offended over cracks about her weight? Quite the hypocrite.

So, the other week Ms. McCain went on a media blitz to declare herself an open-minded conservative while blasting iconic, conservative pundits like Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham.

Contradiction of the Day – I’m declaring myself ”open-minded” but I’ll sure as heck throw stones and judge those who aren’t agreeing with me 100% of the time, oh unless they’re Democrats.

In Ms. McCain’s defense (uh, I hate that phrase, but I’ll use it here) I think she is just on her journey to becoming a full-fledged conservative. It doesn’t help that her dad is borderline RINO and that her age probably plays a part in her ability to adapt to traditional convervative ideals. In 10 years, I think her outlook on things could be completely different and possibly even more conservative than they are today. That said, I think she should back off taking on the conservative party icons prior to building her own base and credentials for being a public spokesperson of the Republican movement.

I mean, I get it - she’s young, her dad is John McCain and the GOP seems to be desperate for that under 30 vote. But instead of turning to people like Ms. McCain, why not devote more of that attention to younger activists like Jason Mattera. He’s bright, articulate, hilarious, creative and in that prime under-30 target. His undercover reporting at the DNC was some of the best stuff I’ve seen in years (”Me and Little John Edwards – we’re about to go cheat on someone.” LOL). Not to mention I totally heart his New Yaaaawrk/Brooklyn accent. Loves it!

Click here to view the embedded video.

I’m 30 years old and I know there are more voices out there to help the GOP get their message out to younger voters. It’s just harder to convince them because there’s a completely different set of rules when you are marketing to a person in their 20s vs. someone in their late 30s, 40s, etc. I think we all realize that. But I don’t like how the default goes to Ms. McCain simply because she’s John McCain’s daughter and had a blog during the 2008 election. Yes, she has some views and a blog, but so do a lot of younger conservatives who can openly articulate their positions without the need to get into a battle of insults with traditional, popular conservative pundits.

There’s no need for conservatives to fight amongst themselves when we already have the task of going up against the crazies, uh, liberals, especially those at Crazy Central aka the Daily Kos. But the media will cling onto Ms. McCain because of who her dad is and the apparent fact that she is still holding onto her Democratic ideals (for now) while masking them as “new-age Republican.” And they’d rather promote a good catfight among Republicans instead of having a civil discussion about true conservative ideals. This is a country that loves Jerry Springer for goodness sakes.

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

It was either Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly that stated how the media loves a RINO until they are going against their precious Democrats. Hopefully Ms. McCain won’t have to learn that the hard way because I don’t know if there will be any Republican pundits left to be on her side if she keeps going the way she does. I mean what will her reaction be four years from now if it’s her instead of Rush that’s depicted as Jabba the Hut on CurrentTV?

It’s not that difficult to figure out. While I understand that people want to paint the pretty picture of many different molds of conservatives, to self-proclaim you are the future of progressive conservatism is a little early to call. Especially when conservatives are leaning more right than ever in opposition to the far-left policies currently being implemented shoved down our throats.

Meghan McCain is the latest conservative making the rounds in the press. While it’s great to see more articulate conservative women on air, let’s be honest – she’s only getting this attention because of who her dad is. Classic nepotism. The sooner Meghan starts to acknowledge this and move on, instead of fighting established pundits like Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter, the better off she’ll be in establishing her own credibility.

Here’s Meghan on Larry King the other night (via HotAir) claiming to be a “progressive conservative.”

Embedded video from &amp;amp;lt;a href=”http://www.cnn.com/video” mce_href=”http://www.cnn.com/video”&amp;amp;gt;CNN Video&amp;amp;lt;/a&amp;amp;gt;

Uggh! I hate that word progressive. People throw it around like the freakin’ L-word in a hormone-rabid high school. They’re not really sure what it means, but the sound of it coming from their mouth gives them a false sense of security in what they’re doing.

Progressive (pro·gres·sive) adj. – Moving forward; advancing. Proceeding in steps; continuing steadily by increments.

Basically, people throw around progressive as their policies are better when in fact their policies are just different. Different and progressive are not synonyms, you nitwits.

A lot of times people will comment that conservatives need to come around to more “mainstream” ways of thinking. I ask – mainstream? according to whose standard – Democrats? Then with that “logic” if conservatives where to be more “mainstream” they would no longer be conservatives, they’d be Democrats or named Arlen Specter.

I don’t think conservatives need to be more mainstream or progressive. The conservative movement is rooted in traditional values. They hold in the highest value above all other liberties the right to life (as does the Constitution BTW), so to assume that conservatives better “get with the times” and accept pro-one-choice (ie, abortion) is asking them to go against their core principle. How is that right? Does being progressive suddenly mean accepting only YOUR one-and-only position on the issue? So persecuting other Christians as “not being open minded” if they oppose one of their religion’s fundamental beliefs makes YOU a progressive? Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.

Also, classic in the comments on HotAir:

“I was raised a Christian, but I was raised open-minded Christian — one to accept people, love people, not pass judgment.” Commenter – Umm, that sounds pretty judgmental to me.

Ain’t that the trufffff. That’s so typical of people who criticize religion or those who are religious. There’s always the “I’m just pointing out hypocritical Christians.” Yeah, sure you are as you cast as many stones that you’re arm will allow you to throw. But when you cast a stone in judgement, I guess it’s called something else. Oooooh, that’s right – progressiveness.

The waiting for Rush Limbaugh to speak at CPAC has finally stopped. And the man was incredible as the main voice of the conservatism movement. It’s amazing how logical and articulate Rush is when the media isn’t lampooning him into a outlandish, cartoonish version of an extremist with their supposed “best political analysts” around. No wonder this man has 20 million listeners a week while CNN is lucky to get 7 million with their journalists ratchet con men.

Let me tell you who we conservatives are: We love people. [Applause] When we look out over the United States of America, when we are anywhere, when we see a group of people, such as this or anywhere, we see Americans. We see human beings. We don’t see groups. We don’t see victims. We don’t see people we want to exploit. What we see — what we see is potential. We do not look out across the country and see the average American, the person that makes this country work. We do not see that person with contempt. We don’t think that person doesn’t have what it takes. We believe that person can be the best he or she wants to be if certain things are just removed from their path like onerous taxes, regulations and too much government.

Booooooooooyah, CNN! What up noooow! So much for Rush’s speech being “all about wanting the President to fail.” I’m waiting for the day the FCC can start fining these “journalists” for outright slander and libel.

Here’s more of Rush defining what it means to be a conservative and dispelling those caricatures the liberal media likes to skew us into.

And here he is closing it out. Sure does sound like your “typical-racist-homophobe-bigot-judgmental-crammingreligiondownyourthroat-conservative,” huh??? (rolling eyes)

Perhaps if our mainstream media oh, say, did their jobs for once there wouldn’t be the need for Rush to clear up the fundamental differences between conservatives and liberals.
