I’ve got this friend and she’s always worked in education with the inner-city and lower-economic schools. She did that “voluntary” Teach for America (TFA) first and has worked her way up through the charter school programs. (I put quotes around voluntary because TFA teachers actually earn public school teaching salaries commensurate with the salaries of non-TFA-recruited teachers; Somehow getting paid to do something doesn’t mesh with my definition of volunteering).

Anyways, as my liberal friend has progressed up the professional public education ladder, she’s taken on opportunities focused on getting kids from lower-economic areas the best education possible. So, if you asked such a person “Hey, you’ve got two candidates to choose from Candidate 1). Who supports a voucher program to give parents and kids the choice – not the government – where they are going to school and pressures public schools to be more competitive and accountable for kids educations or Candidate 2). Who doesn’t support a voucher program but believes there should be bureaucratic federal funding that is the answer. So who are you going to choose?”

Gee, I bet you wonder where I’m going with this. Thaaaaaaaaaaat’s right, this at one point self-proclaimed-libertarian (does she even know what a libertarian is???) voted for……..

Barack “I don’t support voucher programs” Obama.

Her reasoning, no joke, to me was – but if you would have seen the look on my kids’ faces this morning you’d understand my vote. Gee, thanks for voting with your emotions and not with any logic whatsoever. Here’s what I don’t understand – why did you vote for a candidate who’s expressed position during the campaign (and now carried throughout his presidency) does more to damage educational opportunity for the lower economic classes? Why did you vote for a candidate who openly opposes voucher programs which have been PROVEN via facts and statistics to help those kids from lower-economic backgrounds?

You’ve literally just voted for someone who’s position is to continue a failing policy of federally-funded government schools that hurts kids in lower-economic areas. So while you’re kids’ faces may be all smiles, guess what, you just f**ked them over royally by continuing to elect Democratic leaderfailureship that perpetually cares more about teachers unions than the education of kids. WAY. TO. GO.

VoteFAAAAAAAAAAAAIL!

Now that as the reality of Obama’s policies are starting to take affect, hmmmm some former Obamabots are breaking free of being deprogrammed and are pissed about what they are seeing. Am I surprised? A bit. Do I feel sorry for them and their regret? Not one bit. That’s because I took the time to educate myself on the issues and not get swept up in the DNC’s game of guilt/identity politics.

Here’s the latest from ReasonTV reporting on how some people are turning on Obama because of his stance against the voucher program. (via Hot Air). Keep in mind this is an $18 million program that Obama couldn’t find any money for whatsoever to support it in neither his $3.6 billion budget OR his $1 billion porkulus bill.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The one lady is interesting at the beginning when she asks WHY? Yeah, instead of asking Obama I’d say hold a big mirror up to your face and ask yourself WHY you didn’t pay attention during the campaign when Obama said during the presidential debates:

“But the — but here’s the thing, is that, even if Senator McCain were to say that vouchers were the way to go — I disagree with him on this, because the data doesn’t show that it actually solves the problem — the centerpiece of Senator McCain’s education policy is to increase the voucher program in D.C. by 2,000 slots.”

And cue McCain who countered with:

“And I will support those reforms, and I will fund the ones that are reformed. But I’m not going to continue to throw money at a problem. And I’ve got to tell you that vouchers, where they are requested and where they are agreed to, are a good and workable system. And it’s been proven.”

Oh, and it gets better. Not only is the “People’s President” decreasing the funding of the successful education reform program, Obama is cutting the voucher program in DC all together for the future. (via HotAir)

President Obama will seek to extend the controversial D.C. school voucher program until all 1,716 participants have graduated from high school, although no new students will be accepted, according to an administration official who has reviewed budget details scheduled for release tomorrow…

And people wonder why kids in other countries are gaining speed or are light years ahead of our own kids in terms of education levels.

Is Hope n’ Change fever finally dying out thanks to a good dose of reality? One can only hope (pun intended!)

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus… Okay you get the point.

During the election last year, it was a weekly occurrence that Obama would throw some “acquaintance” (i.e., close family-friend, personal advisor, mentor for 20+ years) under the bus in order to save his reputation with independents and basically score votes. Trust me, the far leftists could care less on who their nominee cohorts with as long as it’s not somebody who is smart enough to figure out that Saddam Hussein IS NOT the Abraham Lincoln of Iraq.

Anydelusion, a lot of conservative pundits were notorious for jumping ship and defending Obama as well as their upcoming vote for him. They believed he was the “change” that Washington needed or the “hope” of a new era of politics – we conservatives who criticized him were just party poopers of history being made (ooookay!). Where they saw unicorns and fairies, we saw a smooth-talking, used-car salesman type of campaign rhetoric that didn’t match up with Obama’s political votes/positions and policy legislation. Where they saw themselves as being bi-partisan and not allowing race to get in the way of an historic vote; we real conservatives saw traitors to conservative principles and our own falling for race-baiting tactics that used fear to manipulate people into voting for the Democratic candidate (”Don’t be a racist – vote Obama!”, ”Why would you be against making history – better vote Obama!”)

So now those chiiiiiiiiickens are coming home to roost! Can I get a Aaaaaaaamen, Rev. Wright? Oh, too busy building your multi-million dollar mansion paid for by the donations of the oppressed folks you claim to be helping get out of poverty while you live like you’re on an episode of Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous? Okay, another time then.

Anyways, I guess buyers’ remorse isn’t just brewing with actual voters. It took a while but looks like some of those conservative pundits, the ones my liberal friends liked to use as “proof ” that Obama was the one to save (SAVE ME! SAVE ME, OBAMA!) our nation, are now thinking twice about their too-quick-to-judge votes.

Can I get a round of kool-aid shots for my friends Christopher Buckley and David Brooks??? Drink up, boys.

Here’s Buckley -

Hold on—there’s a typo in that paragraph. “$3.6 trillion budget” can’t be right. The entire national debt is—what—about $11 trillion? He can’t actually be proposing to spend nearly one-third of that in one year, surely. Let me check. Hmm. He did. The Wall Street Journal notes that federal outlays in fiscal 2009 will rise to almost 30 percent of the gross national product. In language that even an innumerate English major such as myself can understand: The US government is now spending annually about one-third of what the entire US economy produces.

Here’s Brooks -

Those of us who consider ourselves moderates — moderate-conservative, in my case — are forced to confront the reality that Barack Obama is not who we thought he was. His words are responsible; his character is inspiring. But his actions betray a transformational liberalism that should put every centrist on notice. As Clive Crook, an Obama admirer, wrote in The Financial Times, the Obama budget “contains no trace of compromise. It makes no gesture, however small, however costless to its larger agenda, of a bipartisan approach to the great questions it addresses.

Oh, Chris “Thrill Up My Leg” Matthews wants to get in on the free kool-aid shots to celebrate buyers’ remorse TOO??? Uh, he’s such a mooch. Okay, Thrill Boy, let’s hear it!

J Nel: “Change we can believe in. Just when we started to believe…and we thought it could never get worse…it did. Geithner needs to go! At this point I don’t think I could be any more disappointed than I am. Where is the Media Outrage? And the poor people in Kentucky. Where is the Pres? Eating expensive beef and hosting a super bowl party. Our poor country.”

I don’t love that this is happening but I can’t help but exhibit a little “I told you so” attitude. This is the problem with the average American voter not getting informed about govt. policies and how govt. decisions affect us. Too often they just want to feel that they’ve got to be a part of something and are bought in by mob mentality created by the liberal-biased MSM, as well as some of their peers I’m sure. It goes back to high school where people just want to be a part of the in-crowd thinking that in doing so will make their life meaningful and fulfilled. I had a discussion with a friend last month about how I believed a good majority of voters got swept up in Obamamania because they wanted to cater to their self-esteem in making a “historic” vote. Instead of looking at Obama’s policies they played right into the DNC’s manipulation of identity politics. Vote for Obama – you’ll be making history!

Now we’ve got a situation, earlier than expected, where people are starting to realize “oh, I guess the guy I voted for isn’t really about all he said on the TV screen.” No shit, Sherlock! It’s called campaigning. ABC – Always! Be! Closing! Barry was selling you a pipe dream and you bought it hook, line and sinker. Congrats, you are now the owner of voter’s remorse.

But there is a cure – go out and get educated on government, where candidates really stand on issues, and how policy legislation really affects your household/community. Then in the next election you’ll really know what your vote is counting for in terms of the history and future of our nation.
