Don't forget to add that Democrats actually OPPOSED the civil rights act and Lincoln's move to abolish slavery. I have heard many devout liberals declare that "that is the past, the democrats of today are now the party that supports minorities". I will go on record as saying that Martin Luther King, Jr. would be an even more committed conservative if he were alive today. I'll bet, ideologically speaking, that he would have TONS more in common with persons such as Huckabee, Palin or even W than he would with Pelosi, Nagin, Sharpton, Jackson and Reid.
