Hell hath no fury like a former liberal woman.
Apparently John McCain is throwing Meg Whitman’s name into the ring to be the next Governor of California.(via Flap’s Blog) She’s even got her site up and going – http://www.megwhitman.com/
Thank goodness! California needs the help of someone who know how to take something that’s worth $0 and turn it into a billion-dollars. Her business track record with one of California’s major businesses eBay is fantastic and hopefully she can parlay that business acumen into a much needed restructuring of the state’s budget.
Plus her background – Bachelor’s from Princeton in ECONOMICS! and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Ch-ch-cha-CHING! Especially now that they aren’t getting any federal bailout money – good plan, Arnie (snickers). I don’t know who would be the Democrat running against her except Gavin Newsom. Oh and he’s just got a “stellar” track record of budget constraints behind him, heh.
Since one reader below seems to have his/her panties in a twist on my blog, well, perk up Mr. Crabbypants – here’s a Republican I can get behind!
The ranting and raving of a woman formally brainwashed under the liberal agenda. Through investigation, commentary and sarcasm about government, this woman is breaking free of the hypocritical liberal party that tries to manipulate women into believing only they can represent women’s rights. Get informed, get free, get Un-Liberaled! This blog does not endorse any particular candidate or party - although if I did, I most likely wouldn’t endorse a liberal candidate. For instance, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) or as I like to call her Smancy Pelotox would not get my vote. Comprende? Good. Hope you enjoy the rants! :)

I can’t honestly say that the budget problems in CA are all the Governators fault. Yes he can’t seem to get people to rally behind him and actually do something productive, like cut spending or heaven forbid raise taxes to pay for the mountain of social programs here, but he is sort of bound by democracy. The problem is that most people are F-ing stupid and want a lot of free stuff. He says we need to raise taxes to pay for stuff, and it gets voted down. Then he says we need to cut spending then, and he gets lynched by the media and people hate him more.
Short of adopting the U.P. staragety of saying “everyone gets everything for free” there isn’t anything that people want to hear.
Am I the only one that feels like one of the boys in Pinocchio on that little party island?

Bill,
I’m tempted to say democracy guarantees socialism. As you said, “The problem is that most people are … stupid and want a lot of free stuff.” And it’s hard to win an election by mentioning (gasp) costs instead of promising freebies. Yet once upon a time, this country was a democracy that was less socialist. What happened to America? How can democracy be desocialized?
