BIG TEST

Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and master spinster, states this week that he’s going to now (ONLY NOW) have his mortgages refinanced and managed by a third party. Please give Mr. Dodd the “Captain Obvious” sash because he’s clearly earned it.

This after years of his participation in the Countrywide “Friends of Angelo” program where Dodd received an astonishing low mortgage rates of 4.5% for a 10 year loan and 4.25% for a 5 year loan. You read that right, folks - 4.5% and 4.25% with ZERO points down. Not a student loan, but home mortgages. I mean it muuuuuuuuust have just a “coincidence” that the man who was serving on the Banking Committee didn’t know at the time what the average rates were, even though he’s in a position to have his finger on the pulse of what supports the entire banking industry. Nah, that was just a simple oversight. Also, ignore the fact that daily newspapers and broadcast news report on interest and mortgage rates nearly every day.  He clearly couldn’t help missing that.   The average American who reads their newspaper on a daily basis could know if they were getting a sweetheart deal on their home loan, but not Dodd – it’s not his fault! Poor guy, let me rub my thumb and index finger together to play the world’s smallest violin.

Anyboohoo, Dodd is now announcing he is releasing his recordseven though they won’t be made public and only a select group of reports can view a partial portion of the overall records. After nearly a year of promising to do so he presents this as if a). he’s doing it as a grand voluntary gesture and b). this has not been pressured on him to do so all these months. I think Dodd knows exactly what he’s doing. Do not be fooled – this man knew exactly what rate he was getting; that is was significantly lower than what he would qualify on his own w/o the Angelo VIP treatment; and that everyone knows he got his hand caught in the cookie jar. But Dodd continually is playing the deer-in-the-headlights look. I think someone is advising him, badly, that if you play dumb long enough either enough people will buy it or they’ll just grow tired and forget about it.

But nobody truly forgets. Not in this day of Google and YouTube. People will remember Dodd for the sneak that he is. Dodd should resign from the Banking Committee and admit fault – that would go a lot further in a court of public opinion than his current course of action. I personally think he should resign as a Senator and be put on trial as Ted Stevens was but that probably won’t happen since he’s got friends in high (and low) places.  Ed Morrissey wrote a column in the New York Post about Dodd’s record evasion. It’s a great article, so check it out.

The influence-peddling took place when Dodd got the special deal from Countrywide – and the shenanigans that Dodd & Co. allowed Countrywide and other irresponsible subprime lenders to engage in have already burned down the US economy.

Dodd promised last summer that he’d release all of his mortgage documentation to the public. He’s now in his seventh month of failing to deliver. This week, Dodd released some of the papers – but only to a select group of reporters, who weren’t allowed to make copies.

The long wait suggests that Dodd has something to hide. The incomplete “disclosure” and the refinancing, meanwhile, look more like an attempt to bury evidence than a sudden commitment to clean government.

BIG TEST

pig_cashI’ve been reading the news of the porkulus stimulus bill losing steam in the media, Congress and hearts of citizens all across America. This bill alone solidifies my confidence with my non-vote for President Barry – but that’s assuming I needed some which I didn’t. Anypork, I always hear the argument from the far left about how greeeeeeeeeeat govt. spending is for the economy. And then it’s cue some overblown conclusion about how FDR’s New Deal is the shining example on which to base such lies conclusions.  The other week I found this great speech that pretty much sums up why after just a little bit of looking into the facts, one can put to rest the New Deal/govt. spending argument for saving the economy.  It’s painfully obvious the demands of World War II is what saved the economy with the spur of job creation through companies, lowered candidate base due to the war, and increased demand to fill jobs by companies in order to meet contract deliverables from the war.

I think FDR’s Treasury Secretary (the man who oversaw money distribution and revenue collection during The New Deal) says it best when he acknowledge the failure of FDR’s legacy

“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot.”- Henry Morganthau, Secretary of Treasury, in May, 1939.

To often economic policy on the left is defended by govt. spending = job creation and in order to help govt. fund “job creation” we need more taxes (but really only taxes on the “rich” aka the highest full-time workers/producers, not the wealthy). First, that’s an inaccurate picture because it’s only showing you part of it. That type of proposal forgets to consider what would happen in the economy if the money had stayed there and not taken by the govt. If you were planning an investment in your 401k, would you look at just one index you had shares in, or would you look at the entire portfolio? Henry Hazlitt, author of Economics in One Lesson, brings up this very point. In this book Hazlitt describe his broken window fallacy.  If you are looking for enlightenment on the realities of what govt. spending really doesn’t do for our economy get this book.

The Cato Institute has also put out a great video on why government spending is not an effective path to digging an economy out of a recession. My favorite “ain’t-that-the-truth part” – If government spending was the right path to economic growth, then North Korea would be a Nirvana.

BIG TEST

So, that’s two tax cheats down and one to go on “the most transparent, inclusive, honest and AWESOME administration EVA!”

Today, Tom Daschle – former HHS secretary appointment & TAX CHEAT – withdrew his name from nomination (HotAir.com has the ongoing updates).  And who said miracles don’t happen! :)

I don’t think Daschle is a bad guy, but if I’m being honest this is one step closer to getting away from national healthcare. National healthcare would be a financial disaster and mortgage the future earnings of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren while only benefiting those who don’t pay taxes.  Thanks, but no thanks.

More importantly this is showing how much experience does count in the oval office. 3 resignations over scandal and hopefully one more to go. I know I’m reaching on the Geithner resignation and that now it’s no longer a possibility – but a girl can dream! I’m sorry I wouldn’t appoint a convicted criminal of insider trading as the new CFO at a Fortune 500 company. I don’t care if only some people (yes, only some people) think he is a great financial mind to run the Treasury. Are you telling me there was nobody else (NOBODY else) out there that clearly knows and obeys the tax laws with which he would be entrusted to oversee????  Most likely there is but the Obama administration is somehow running on tunnel vision when it comes to their cabinet appointments.

Joy Behar, failed stand-up comic and crappy side-kick hostess on sideshow talk show The View, is one of my favorite liberals who epitomizes what I don’t like about the far-left agenda. Every time I hear her screeching like the gossip old bitty that she is I cringe with embarrassment that she is of my gender. In other words, she’s not one of my favorites.

What really gets me about Behar is that she can always dish it out but the minute somebody gives her a dose of her own medicine she becomes unraveled at the seams like a 2 year-old who just found out no, they cannot get whatever they want. Here’s a prime example when John Ziegler comes on the view to talk about his new documentary. Now granted Ziegler’s documentary is controversial (although I COMPLETELY agree with it), but to excuse Behar’s far-left ranting like a child because she came across a far-right debate point is weak.  For instance, Behar defends the media criticizing Palin about her pregnant daughter because it somehow goes back to Palin’s issue on teaching abstinence programs in schools and that it makes Palin a hypocrite.  Behar doesn’t seem to care that what Bristol Palin decides to do with her boyfriend (like having pre-marital sex and getting preggers) in her private life is not a direct link to whether public policy, like abstinence programs, are effective or not.  But using Behar’s illogical logic, how come she never gets on the media for not criticizing Obama who supports public education funding but then sends his daughters to private schools????  Or doesn’t call Obama out on his hypocrisy? I know why she doesn’t pipe up then – because she doesn’t know what the FUCK she’s talking about.

Here’s the two parts of the interview. To sit back and see Joy lose it – 2nd clip around :30. Ooooooh, those feathers getting ruffled! Loves it!

About The Un-Liberaled Woman

The ranting and raving of a woman formally brainwashed under the liberal agenda. Through investigation, commentary and sarcasm about government, this woman is breaking free of the hypocritical liberal party that tries to manipulate women into believing only they can represent women’s rights. Get informed, get free, get Un-Liberaled! This blog does not endorse any particular candidate or party - although if I did, I most likely wouldn’t endorse a liberal candidate. For instance, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) or as I like to call her Smancy Pelotox would not get my vote. Comprende? Good. Hope you enjoy the rants! :)
