So the other day Obama’s teleprompter addiction caused another snafu. Surprised? Honestly, this Hollywood-staged administration keeps getting better every week. They seem more concerned with their PR strategy than actually doing what the executive branch is supposed to do. I can’t WAIT for the tell-all books that are bound to come out starting around 2010.

Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address at a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the White House when he realized something sounded way too familiar. Turns out, he was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just given.

Things are good though, Obama’s teleprompter has released its official statement:

Well, last night didn’t go well. What can I say? I was tired. By the time Barack and the Irish PM stood up, the President and I had already done two major policy speeches, three nomination announcements, and light dinner banter for a table of twelve. And by the way, that “ad lib” last night about Guinness? Mine.

You all know this is just the teleprompter getting some jilted-employee revenge, right? I mean, girlfriend is sooooo obvious.

Yeah, kind of how I feel about this current President.  Trying To Grok has a great recap from one of Obama’s colleagues at the Harvard Law Review. The same Law Review that so many Obamanaiacs bragged about when citing reasons the Kool-Aid man should be president. I didn’t buy it then and now am certainly enjoying the validation in not believing the hype.

[W]hen he was at the HLR you did get a very distinct sense that he was the kind of guy who much more interested in being the president of the Review, than he was in doing anything as president of the Review.  A lot of the time he quote/unquote “worked from home”, which was sort of a shorthand – and people would say it sort of wryly – shorthand for not really doing much. He just wasn’t around. Most of the day to day work was carried out by the managing editor of the Review, my predecessor, a great guy called Tom Pirelli whose actually going to be one of the assistant attorney generals now.  He’s the one who did most of the day to day work. Barack Obama was nowhere to be seen. Occasionally he would drop in he would talk to people, and then he’d leave again as though his very arrival had been a benediction in and of itself, but not very much got done.

Could get this easily on Amazon.uk back at home and 3). the LEADER of our GREATEST ALLY! – you’re giving the PM of Britain as a welcoming gift to the US/UK relationship a DVD set you COULD GET AT WAL-MART FOR PROBABLY $30 BUCKAROOS!!!!!!! (Why don’t you just get him a subscription to Columbia House you low rent @#$@#$%@%#$!)

Mr Brown’s gifts included an ornamental desk pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, once named HMS President.  Mr Obama was so delighted he has already put it in pride of place in the Oval Office on the Resolute desk which was carved from timbers of Gannet’s sister ship, HMS Resolute. Another treasure given to the U.S. President was the framed commission for HMS Resolute, a vessel that came to symbolize Anglo-US peace when it was saved from ice packs by Americans and given to Queen Victoria. Finally, Mr Brown gave a first edition set of the seven-volume classic biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.

Sounds all real classy and stuff, huh…Geezus, Obama is representing the U.S. and on his first try makes us looking like freakin’ Cletus from The Simpsons.  As Carlos Mencia would say – De-De-Deeeeeee!

Honestly, this teleprompter addiction is getting out of control. Now it’s being used at press conferences??? How can anyone say this guy is a great communicator when he can’t even speak on his own. As a friend would quote Dog The Bounty Hunter, “Lay off the meth, brutha! Lay off the meth!”

Welcome to our new energy policy in the U.S.  Every man, woman and child will now be responsible for their own (and probably THEIR neighbors’) energy source and therefore must construct their own wind turbine outside their house. Then we must all read by candlelight, burn wood for heat and use outhouses.  Is this 1809? Nope – 2009, baby! (via Ace)

Here’s the latest in the Carter 2.0 administration. Obama has officially pulled the plug on Yucca Mountain and indirectly said “no more” to nuclear power – yes, the cleanest and most reliable energy resource, he takes a pass on it and goes a step further to crazytown by putting restrictions on our current usage of it. Keep in mind that the radioactive material that would have been deposited here would have resulted in ”99.93 percent of the radioactivity originally placed in the repository would have decayed.”  Oh, and the “small” fact that it would store there for (in my lame Dr. Evil impression) ONE MIIIIIILLION DOLLARS YEARS. As my dad would say to describe someone as being incompetent -

WHAT.     A.     NERD!

Oh, but what about reprocessing the spent nuclear rods? Oh, you mean doing the stuff that France does to recycle its nuclear energy??? Yeah, umm his mentor Jimmy “Tweedle Dumb” Carter made it illegal 30 years ago to reprocess. And who says that government never gets in the way of progress???

In shuttering Yucca Mountain, Obama makes it extremely likely that nuclear power in the United States will continue its long, slow, and extremely welcome death. For the next couple of decades, anyway.

It was pretty clear on the campaign that Obama opposed all nuclear plant sources for energy. In fact, I think if he really had his way there would be no clean coal, no natural gas and no nuclear – period.  It would be all solar and wind.

The problem with those methods as a sole energy source is that electricity has to be constantly running and at a high pace in order to reach its mulitple, final destinations on the grid in an efficient but also constant fashion. Solar and Wind technologies ALWAYS (emphasis on ALWAYS) have to rely on another energy source. Why? Because they are not reliable. It doesn’t matter if you build 5, 10, 200,000 wind farms – you still need a power plant (nuclear/coal) to back it up and provide proper electricity levels to everyone on the grid. Wind energy technologies cannot support this on their own. And we’ve been going at this since the early 1970s, yet somehow it’s the next four years that’s going to solve the issues with wind energy. Oh! And unicorns DO EXIST! Yeeeeeeeeeeah!

So instead of finding a way to support a perfectly clean and recyclable (just ask France) energy technology like nuclear, Obama caters to the far-left environmentalists who he is indebted to and does away with any chance of making nuclear power not only better but as a bridge to an energy plan that is pro-environment.

Gee what’s next – National rolling blackouts? Way to go, President Gilligan!

During the election last year, it was a weekly occurrence that Obama would throw some “acquaintance” (i.e., close family-friend, personal advisor, mentor for 20+ years) under the bus in order to save his reputation with independents and basically score votes. Trust me, the far leftists could care less on who their nominee cohorts with as long as it’s not somebody who is smart enough to figure out that Saddam Hussein IS NOT the Abraham Lincoln of Iraq.

Anydelusion, a lot of conservative pundits were notorious for jumping ship and defending Obama as well as their upcoming vote for him. They believed he was the “change” that Washington needed or the “hope” of a new era of politics – we conservatives who criticized him were just party poopers of history being made (ooookay!). Where they saw unicorns and fairies, we saw a smooth-talking, used-car salesman type of campaign rhetoric that didn’t match up with Obama’s political votes/positions and policy legislation.  Where they saw themselves as being bi-partisan and not allowing race to get in the way of an historic vote; we real conservatives saw traitors to conservative principles and our own falling for race-baiting tactics that used fear to manipulate people into voting for the Democratic candidate (”Don’t be a racist – vote Obama!”,  ”Why would you be against making history – better vote Obama!”)

So now those chiiiiiiiiickens are coming home to roost! Can I get a Aaaaaaaamen, Rev. Wright? Oh, too busy building your multi-million dollar mansion paid for by the donations of the oppressed folks you claim to be helping get out of poverty while you live like you’re on an episode of Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous? Okay, another time then.

Anyways, I guess buyers’ remorse isn’t just brewing with actual voters. It took a while but looks like some of those conservative pundits, the ones my liberal friends liked to use as “proof ” that Obama was the one to save (SAVE ME! SAVE ME, OBAMA!) our nation, are now thinking twice about their too-quick-to-judge votes.

He can’t actually be proposing to spend nearly one-third of that in one year, surely. Let me check. Hmm. He did. The Wall Street Journal notes that federal outlays in fiscal 2009 will rise to almost 30 percent of the gross national product. In language that even an innumerate English major such as myself can understand: The US government is now spending annually about one-third of what the entire US economy produces.

His words are responsible; his character is inspiring. But his actions betray a transformational liberalism that should put every centrist on notice. It makes no gesture, however small, however costless to its larger agenda, of a bipartisan approach to the great questions it addresses.
