I’m talking about our lovely Driving-the-US-into-Socialism-at-100-MPH Stimulus bill that kicked off the fun on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, also known as the Obama Presidency.

So in case you never read the fine print, or the bill for that matter, (MRS. Arlen Specter I’m talking to you!) here’s the real deal on all those “shovel-ready projects.” You know, the ones that we were told would turn this economy around because it would create 2, er, 3, errrr, “4 million jobs.” I put that in quotes because it’s what you would call a bunch of baloney, to put it nicely.

So anymybaloneyhasafirstnameit’sO-B-A-M-A, our President’s main point for defending the porkulus was that creating infrastructure projects would essentially lend itself to more job creation and with a flick of his FAAAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS wand, *POOF!* the economy is awwww better.

Um, hold up! Wait a minute! Don’t go there, cause I ain’t with it!

Now let’s travel back to a place I love to call “reality” where we actually look into what the definition of “shovel-ready” means. Turns out that with most of these projects, local funding is required PRIOR to even being able to apply to receive stimulus funds. That’s right folks – local funding is required! Hey, Barry Barney – How do we get local funding??? Why, kids through local taxes, of course! Yuck-Yuck-Yuck!!! Oooooh laughter all around.

Take for instance this document from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The portion of funding for Texas transportation includes:

• The estimated creation of more than 23,000 direct jobs and 69,000 total jobs.
• Approximately $2.6 billion dedicated to transportation projects around the state.
• Funding for highway, bridge, transit, aviation and rail projects.

This is a reimbursement program. Texas will not receive the dollars up front. (emphasis mine)

This is the sad fact that nobody in government or the media wants to talk about but is something that affects every single person in every area that is accepting stimulus funds. In order for most shovel-ready projects to get the stimulus money, they must have local taxes in place that will or are already bringing in funds for the “stimulus-funded” project.

This is happening all over in my home state. I’m not pulling this out of left field as a way to get the Democrats. People who are trying to apply for stimulus money know darn well and I’ve even seen correspondence with my own eyes where, in fact, it shows that Congress will determine if “the project worthy, will they deem it necessary, can we show just cause, etc. but the bottom line is that if we do not have local funding, we CANNOT apply for the funding that MAY BE available.”

Kind of ridiculous. So we’ll get double the tax, double the fun. I don’t know about you but I can’t WAIT to get my local taxes increased as well as my federal taxes (shudders!). PLUS, this ultimately goes against Obama’s pledge of no new taxes on 95% of Americans. Taxes at the local level aren’t categorized between income levels, so you’re more likely to see increases disguised as property and sale taxes – even for those under the $250k mark. That’s two times a broken promise now – goes to show you if it sounds too good to be true, a liberal must be saying it!

I guess this will make us all SUPA-DUPA Patriots in Joe Biden’s eyes….Sweet! My life is like FINALLY complete.

The other part is that one must consider is the liberal myth that shovel-ready projects accepting stimulus money will mean that the stimulus has created more jobs. If the project was shovel ready that means the majority of employment has already been decided and thus no new jobs are actually created. But that doesn’t surprise me, because it’s like most things with government – they’ll only present the myth of job creation without showing people that the jobs already existed without government’s intervention, oh I mean stealing of resources from the private sector. To those that have never experienced getting credit stolen from them, that’s what I like to call smoke and mirrors.

Ah, Joy, Joy, Joy. My favorite village idiot.  Nothing gets me more psyched than Behar getting put in her place. Well, Ann Coulter was recently on CNN with Behar filling in for Larry King (although it wasn’t much of an improvment on the host front).

Joy’s biggest defense in this “debate” with Coulter is “you’re exaggerating. you’re exaggerating.” Forget the fact that everything she says this to Coulter she doesn’t cite facts to back up her accusation of exaggeration. I LURRRRV how Coutler runs circles around Behar.  And then when Behar’s jaw is tired from not being able to contribute to the game of talking facts, she drops this gem about Rush’s audience base.

Ummmm…slap me if I’m wrong, but something tells me that you (aka, liberal twats who are not open to listening to reason, facts and logic) are not his target audience. So it’s okay if it doesn’t mean anything to you since I don’t think Rush is losing any sleep over the fact that THE JOY BEHAR is not concerned with the success of his show. And she accuses him of fillibusting guests on his show. Ummmm – what the @$#@%# do you think you do on The View Crazy Hens Roosting show, Joy????

Anyego, I also love how 20 million people behind Rush isn’t anything but now that same figure behind Obama is now a movement, a force to be reckoned with. I mean, really, either it’s nothing or something – pick one you sad excuse for a talkshow host!

NASA and climate researchers are weighing their options after yesterday’s crash of a new satellite designed to monitor atmospheric carbon dioxide with unprecedented accuracy. A malfunction during the rocket ride toward space sent the Orbiting Carbon Observatory plummeting into the Indian Ocean near Antarctica…What went wrong with the $278 million mission will be the subject of a lengthy investigation, but Weiler said it appeared that the protective nose cone, known as the fairing, failed to separate from the satellite.

Where’s my Real Man of Genius on this? Wha-Whaaaaaaaaaaat?  What happened to “nobody messes with Joe!” for watching what happens to our taxpayer dollars.  Don’t worry….the porkulus gives NASA another $400 million to hopefully screw up two more times – AT LEAST.  Oh and as to what that money could have done otherwise during “the most serious financial crisis our country has ever faced since the Great Depression,” well, here’s a breakdown. You know, just a few “petty” things like providing jobs, food, and EVEN paying delinquent home owners’ bills…

Don’t get me wrong, I think NASA can serve as a great asset in the development of our world & help to understand more about how human activity doesn’t really affect the environment all that much. But aren’t we in a CRISIS????  

So if you’re whining about CEO pay and lavish lifestyles of the “rich,” then how come you’re not tootin’ the horn about $278 MILLION buckaroos just chillin’ with the fishes. Especially if it would mean you could get your Social Security taxes back for one full year. My SS tax (on my end, not counting my employer’s) was $4,000.

Could you find a way to spend more with an extra $4k???  Exactly.

No taxation without representation” began as a slogan in the period 1763–1776 that summarized a primary grievance of the British colonists in the Thirteen Colonies. In short, many in those colonies believed the lack of direct representation in the distant British Parliament was an illegal denial of their rights as Englishmen, and therefore laws taxing the colonists (the kind of law that affects the most individuals directly), and other laws applying only to the colonies, were unconstitutional.

Sounds about right – if it is unconstitutional to tax citizens without giving them direct representation in government, how come it IS constitutional to give direct representation to citizens who not only do not pay any taxes but also live off of the increased taxation on those citizens who DO pay taxes?   There’s an interesting question to mull over.

A friend told me that she felt if you didn’t pay taxes then your right to vote should not be allowed. I totally get her sentiment – contribute to pool and you shall be allowed to swim like everyone else basically. Everyone can pay SOME tax. Unfortunately, some may pay more than others under our punishing income tax system, but nobody should be excused from any. And further more if people are excused from paying income tax they shouldn’t even be qualifying for a credit or refund of any kind. People should not be paid to live in the U.S. by the government while they refuse to get out there and work like the rest of us.

Via Black & Right, Bob brings up an excellent point that since the stimulus porkulus was sold on the false premise that most *cough*12%*cough* of the money was going toward infrastructure projects that would create jobs, why are there no funds specifically for repairing the still-existing Katrina damage. 

I’m sure we all remember the pummeling President George W. Bush received over the federal response to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It was ugly. Even Barack Obama bashed President Bush on the subject. One would think President Obama’s stimulus plan would pour money into New Orleans’ levees in need.  Think again, and no Democrat is saying anything about it…

Whaaaaaaaaat, Democrats aren’t able to play the race card so then we don’t get to hear any rumblings about not helping out New Orleans. Good job, libs, on keeping with being the only party that supposedly  ”helps minorities.”
