I was turned off by this line from his first paragraph: "We sympathize with a lot of the things that President Obama is trying to do." I know it must be hard being the only one of his kind in the NYT office, but still ... Brooks is hoping that RINOs, er, moderates "lure this White House back to its best self--and someday offer respite from the endless war of the extremes." What would "its best self" be? Too little, too late in the case of Brooks. I was turned off by this line from his first paragraph:
